ADE: Teaching schedule
ADE application provides direct access to UGA teaching schedules. Main advantage: a clear and updated information accessible from anywhere and for all people involved (students, teachers and administration).

AGALAN: Academy of Grenoble – Academy of Lyon ANnuaire (directory)
Management of accounts and logins.
The IT account allocated at the beginning of the year provides access to all the university's services (Intranet, shared services, Wi-Fi, etc.), and also to the services of each UGA structure (computers, local servers and services, etc.)

BIPER: Inter-university base of people and their roles
BIPER allows you to manage:
  • the creation of IT logins;
  • access to all IT resources at Université Grenoble Alpes;
  • rights to some applications and services.

CACHE: Web document caching
Cache is used by web browsers (Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.). It allows you to remember the content of a webpage or document, such as a copy. This allows the webpage to be displayed more quickly on a future visit. But the cache can hide updates because it remembers an old version of the webpage, to resolve this problem simply delete the browser cache.

CAS: Central Authentification Service
CAS is a software installed at university to allow access to some resources available only by authentication (Intranet, university messaging, etc.)

CNIL: Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (National Commission on Informatics and Liberty)
The CNIL is a French national administrative authority responsible for ensuring compliance with the Loi informatique et libertés (Data Protection Act). It has to make sure the information technology doesn’t harm either people or freedoms. The CNIL is linked to the DPO (Data Protection Officer) of the university which is a representative. COPASS: UGA password manager
Copass is used at the university to securely manage the passwords of all students and staff of the institution.

DPO: Data Protection Officer
The DPO is the link between UGA people and the CNIL. He is present to advise and ensure the application of the Loi informatique et libertés (Data Protection Act). For more information and know how to contact the UGA DPO, see the "Informatique et libertés" webpage on LEO, the student Intranet.

EDUROAM: Secure academic Wi-Fi
eduroam is an international Wi-Fi that provides a nomadic access to the Internet for all students and staff of higher education and research establishments all over the world, in all eduroam member establishments.

EVENTO: Meeting planner
Evento allows to do surveys and organise meeting.

FileSender: Sending large file
FileSender is a web application that provides to share large files that can’t be sent by email.

GDPR: General Data Protection Regulation or RGPD (Règlement général sur la protection des données)
The GDPR is a European Union regulation relating to the protection of personal data. It aims to strengthen the monitoring of the data processing to better inform people of the use made of them.

INTRANET: IT network or website within a company
At UGA, the Intranet helps students and staff quickly find information and services available in the institution. The access to the UGA Intranet requires authentication with “Agalan” login details.

IS: Information System or SI (Système d'Information)
The IS is made up of all of the resources (hardware, software, networks, procedures, data) used to collect, group, classify, process and disseminate information within the establishment.

LEO: Learning Education Online
LEO is the name of the UGA student Intranet. Visit LEO, the UGA student Intranet.

LMS: Learning Management System
An LMS is a software intended for the design of online courses platforms. They make it possible to manage educational contents and make it available to learners.

OS: Operating System or SE (Système d'exploitation) - computer management software
The operating system is the interface between the computer and the user, it enables communication with the machine through programs and software that translate the actions of the user into its language. Examples of operating systems: Windows, MacOS, Linux.

PHISHING: Attempted to steal personal information
Phishing is a social engineering technique aimed at collecting information in order to impersonate and / or steal data or money. For more information and know how to recognize phishing, see the "How to recognize a phishing email?" webpage.

PSSI: Politique de Sécurité du Système d'Information (Information System Security Policy)
The PSSI is the result of a national pilot project, commissioned by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, which enabled the development of a generic policy for all higher education establishments. The PSSI is materialized by a set of documents presenting the security rules to apply and to respect, as well as the organization allowing its implementation in the establishment.

RGPD: Règlement général sur la protection des données or GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)
The GDPR is a European Union regulation relating to the protection of personal data. It aims to strengthen the monitoring of the data processing to better inform people of the use made of them.

RSSI: Responsable de la Sécurité des Systèmes d'Information (Information Systems Security Manager)
The RSSI is the person in charge of the security of all the resources (hardware, software, networks, procedures, data) allowing to collect, group, classify, process and disseminate information within the establishment.

SI: Système d'Information or IS (Information System)
The IS is made up of all of the resources (hardware, software, networks, procedures, data) used to collect, group, classify, process and disseminate information within the establishment.

URL: Uniform Resource Locator
A URL is a format for naming website addresses, for example "https://univ-grenoble-alpes.fr" is a URL.

VPN: Virtual Private Network
The VPN service offers a secure access to the digital resources of Université Grenoble Alpes, for all registered students and staff of the institution regardless of the location and connection method.

WEBMAIL: Messaging available via the web
A Webmail is a web interface that allows you to consult, send and receive emails and manage your contacts and calendar, directly from a web browser (Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, etc.). It differs from the heavy email client, which is software to install on a computer.

WI-FI: WIreless FIdelity - Wireless communication protocols
Wi-Fi allows you to connect computer devices to each other wirelessly. This allows in particular to access the Internet on a laptop or a smartphone, to communicate, to exchange data, etc.

ZIMBRA: Messaging
Zimbra is the messaging solution chosen by the Université Grenoble Alpes and offered to all students and staff.
